Meet Eric

Eric grew up in Goleta, attending GUSD and SBUSD schools from a young age where he received an excellent education. Today he and his husband raise their two children in the Goleta Valley. He wants to see all children in Goleta succeed regardless of their background or income level, and he knows that far too many children are not receiving a holistic, top shelf education. 

Eric has been an active and engaged GUSD parent, serving on the Mountain View PTA as both a member and Executive Vice-President.  He has led efforts to rethink effective fundraising strategies, implement STEAM programs, recruit new volunteers, and establish effective partnerships between local school districts and community non-profit organizations.

He is an attorney at Sonos, specializing in corporate governance and commercial negotiations. He has a firsthand understanding of the pace of technological change and the critical thinking skills required to navigate its complexities, especially as those technologies intersect with children and families.

Eric dedicates his time to nonprofit and community service. He currently serves as Chair of the Governance Committee for the Pacific Pride Foundation, and volunteers at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He served nine years on the Board of Hospice of Santa Barbara, five of them as Board Chair. Through managing strategic planning and multi-million dollar budgets, Eric has learned that effective board governance requires asking hard questions and understanding the practical realities of strategic decisions.

Eric received his J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science and Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley.
